Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Kutira — what you can expect from the service, and what we expect from you.

Last updated: September 3, 2026

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Kutira mobile app, website and related services (together, "Kutira"). By creating an account or using Kutira you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service. We may update these terms; material changes will be notified in the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect.

2. Your account

You need an account to use Kutira. Sign-in is by a one-time code sent to your email address — there is no password to set or lose. You are responsible for keeping access to that email address secure, and for everything done through your account.

  • You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
  • One person, one account. Do not share your account or your sign-in codes.
  • Give us an email address you actually control — it is the only way back into your account.
  • Tell us promptly at support@kutira.app if you believe someone else has access.

3. Households and shared content

Kutira is built around households. When you join one, the people in it can see the content you add to it — expenses, tasks, shopping lists, calendar entries and the shared items in the pantry. Think of a household as a shared room, not a private notebook.

  • Anything you add to a household is visible to its other members while you are in it.
  • Leaving a household does not delete the records others rely on, such as an expense already split with them.
  • Do not add anybody else’s personal or financial information to a household without their agreement.

4. Subscriptions and billing

Kutira is free to use with core features. Kutira Premium is a paid subscription billed monthly or yearly in advance. Prices are shown in your local currency before you pay and include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.

  • Payments are processed by Razorpay and Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
  • A subscription grants access for the period you paid for, starting when the payment is confirmed.
  • Premium does not auto-renew. Access continues until the end of the paid period and then stops unless you renew.
  • Cancelling stops future renewal. You keep Premium until the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • We may change prices for future periods. A price change never affects a period you have already paid for.

5. Acceptable use

Kutira is for organising a shared home. You agree not to use it for anything else that would harm other people or the service.

  • Do not harass, threaten or impersonate anyone, in a household or elsewhere.
  • Do not upload unlawful content, malware, or anything you do not have the right to share.
  • Do not attempt to access accounts, households or data that are not yours.
  • Do not scrape, resell, or reverse-engineer the service, or use it to build a competing product.
  • Do not use Kutira to process payments or debts unrelated to a genuine shared household.

6. Your content

What you put into Kutira stays yours. You grant us only the permission we need to run the service — to store your content, show it to the household members you chose, back it up, and display it back to you across your devices. We do not sell it and we do not use it to train models.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep Kutira available, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Features may change, and we may retire ones that few people use. If we discontinue a paid feature during a period you have paid for, we will refund the unused portion.

8. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Kutira and delete your account at any time from the app. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that we are legally required to act on, or that is being used to harm other people. Where it is safe and lawful to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.

  • If we close your account for a breach, unused subscription time is not refunded.
  • If we close your account for any other reason, we refund the unused portion of your current period.

9. Liability

Kutira helps you keep track of shared money and chores. It is a record-keeping tool — it does not move money between flatmates, verify what anyone owes, or settle disputes. You are responsible for the arrangements you make with the people you live with. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka. Nothing here removes any right you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in.
